Mission & Vision

We are an organization that focuses on community building by improving the conditions of individuals in need of food, services, healthcare, and employment readiness. Our Vision is to build a community that develops, nurtures, and supports the needs of the people. every community member can and should have access to healthy meals and thus eradicating hunger. To create infrastructure that supports the education of all members of the community that results in Economic Justice!

Background

Our battle cry for the last 8 years has been “everyone deserves the right to thrive” in a society that is supportive, caring, and sensitive to the needs of all. Our efforts demand that we do everything in our power to create a world where people can thrive. Communities must create opportunities to improve their conditions, by working together to meet the needs of the most vulnerable among them. The Cargill Community Project is determined to disrupt the ongoing decline and deprivation that is being seen in many communities affected by low socio-economic status. We might be called Underserved and Underinvested but with partnerships from other organizations we can become stronger TOGETHER.

Annual Community Dinner

On Thursday November 23, 2023, Cargill Community Project will be hosting our annual community event.  This event includes volunteers serving freshly cooked meals via Cooler Runnings Restaurant, distribution of pantry items, donated personal care items or clothing.  The community dinner usually attracts at least 600 people in the local community, and we do targeted outreach to senior centers, widows, elderly, group homes, methadone clinics, trauma victims, and any marginalized sectors of the neighborhood.  Additionally, we partner with several local homeless shelters inclusive of the Icahn Children’s Rescue Fund to deliver meals directly to the shelters.  The event is scheduled from 11:00am -6:00pm and is located on both sidewalk areas of the Cooler Runnings restaurant.  We invite you to be one of our sponsors this year as this is planned to be a great community engagement opportunity.   Sponsorship benefits include promotional opportunity, visibility within the community, and a great way to serve the community.
